Children

Our occupational therapist plays a pivotal role in fostering your child’s growth and well-being by addressing their unique needs and challenges. We are a neuro-affirming workplace, who believe in not changing your child, but equipping them with the skills to manage anything life throws at them.We help facilitate your child’s participation in activities such as handwriting, fastening buttons, playing with friends, kicking the ball and climbing playground equipment. We understand the potentially overwhelming aspects of school for our friends and are here to prepare them for school life and beyond.

We offer expert guidance and practical strategies to make the journey of teaching self-care skills less daunting. This can range from teaching your child the steps for toileting, putting their shirt on correctly, brushing their teeth, using cutlery and falling asleep at night. We tailor self-care routines to suit the child's individual strengths and challenges, ensuring that each step of the process is as comfortable and effective as possible.

We understand how frustrating it is for our little friends to not get their own way, wait their turn, lose a game, and not get overwhelmed by their busy learning environments. Our aim is to help you and your child discover ways to manage big emotions. We can help you decode the complex world of sensory experiences that our children navigate daily. We can provide your family with insights, strategies, and activities to help your child regulate their sensory responses and build resilience.

Overall, we aim to be true allies in the pursuit of nurturing independence and self-sufficiency in our children. We aim to work with you to help navigate this journey and to offer a brighter, more inclusive future for your little one.

Teenagers

We adopt a holistic approach when working with teenagers and their families, providing support across these major transitional periods.  Adolescence is a time of significant emotional, physical, and cognitive changes which can be difficult. However, this is made even more difficult for teens with disabilities. We work together to develop life skills necessary for daily living. These skills may include self-care routines, healthy food choices, chores, shopping, cooking, budgeting, building a social group, work readiness and driving. Working together with the teen's network to support the transition post-school and increasing independence.

Parents

We understand that caring for a child with a disability can present with unique challenges, which is why we offer specialised occupational therapy wellbeing sessions for parents. Our highly trained occupational therapists recognise the vital role parents play in their child's development and wellbeing. These wellbeing sessions are specifically designed to provide parents with the tools, strategies, and emotional support they need to navigate the journey of raising a child with a disability.

During these sessions, our therapists create a nurturing and inclusive environment where parents can openly express their concerns and share their experiences. Our goal is to empower parents with knowledge and practical skills that promote not only their child's progress but also their own self-care and emotional resilience.

Adults

We're here to assist and empower neurodivergent adults in cultivating the essential skills for independent living and active participation in everyday life. We cover a wide range of areas, including cooking, cleaning, personal grooming, and effective money management. Our expertise extends to developing social skills, enhancing communication abilities, and refining fine motor coordination. Additionally, we're dedicated to addressing sensory processing issues or sensitivities that may affect your daily engagement.

Rather than trying to change who you are, we focus on collaborative efforts to build your resilience and coping strategies. This approach helps you navigate challenges, such as difficulties in social interactions or adjusting to changes in routines.

If finding and maintaining employment is one of your goals, our Occupational Therapy team is here to support you every step of the way. Together, we can identify your interests, strengths, and skills, and then match them with suitable employment opportunities or volunteering roles. We'll provide guidance on essential work skills like time management, organization, and problem-solving to help you thrive in the workplace.

Our approach goes beyond specific skills; we take a holistic perspective on your overall well-being and quality of life. By working with us, you can identify and pursue personal goals and interests, whether it's discovering new hobbies, engaging in leisure activities, or becoming more involved in your community.
