Our Process

From Enquiry to Support

We have a four-step process that ensures you get the right support, whether you need occupational therapy, speech therapy, or one of our other therapy services.

STEP 1

Intake Form

It’s easy to get started with us. You can complete our intake form here. Or call or email our team for support. This helps us learn about your family and how we can offer supports.

Over the next few days, our intake team with review the form and ensure the best suited therapists and availabilities to meet your needs. Then we will be in touch via phone/email (so keep an eye out for our emails and check your junk mail) to confirm whether we are a great fit and organise the next steps. In some cases, we may be at capacity or not have a therapist available to suit your needs, and we may need to pop you onto our waiting list.

STEP 2

Initial Parent Consult

60 minute phone session (+ 30minute future planning)

To kick off your therapy journey, our friendly admin team will reach out to schedule an appointment with the therapist best suited to your child's needs. This parent-only consultation can be conducted over the phone or in person, where your therapist will take the time to understand your child’s background, interests, concerns and support requirements and provide thoughtful, tailored recommendations to get started.

It is helpful if you can share NDIS Goals and previous reports prior to this appointment to admin@lotustherapy.com.au.

STEP 3

First Face-to-Face Session

50 minutes face to face (+25mins for clinical documentation)

The initial face to face session the therapist will be focused on building a rapport with the child, ensuring they feel safe and welcomed into the clinic. Providing them time to explore the space and encouraged to engage in some activities. Allowing the therapist time for clinical observations and insights to support the intake gathering process, in order to set goals and plan your child’s therapy journey.

STEP 4

Ongoing Support

60-min sessions (50mins face to face and 10mins for clinical documentation)

The it’s time to put your child’s therapy plan into place, with ongoing support from your therapist. In these sessions, you and your child’s therapist will work together to support your child as they develop their skills, build confidence, and work towards their goals (while having fun!).

Formal Assessments

If your child requires formal assessments for goal setting or reports, your therapist will either complete them within ongoing therapy sessions or email them out to you (so they can be completed at home). Standardise assessments help us explore your child’s strengths and challenges to help provide insights and set some goals.
-Note that formal assessments may be scheduled after a few initial sessions, once your therapist has got to know your child and built a relationship with them.

Reports

NDIS, schools, paediatricians and other therapists often request progress reports or functional capacity assessments. Please ensure you inform your therapist as soon as possible, as some reports require assessments and may need 8-12 weeks to schedule and complete these.
